Central Park is the 843-acre masterpiece of landscape architecture designed in the 19th century by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux and designated New York City’s first scenic landmark in 1974.

New York City Department of Parks & Recreation is the steward of approximately 29,000 acres of land, including more than 5,000 individual properties ranging from Coney Island Beach and Central Park to community gardens and Greenstreets.

The New York Botanical Garden is a museum of plants, an educational institution, and a scientific research organization. Founded in 1891 & now a National Historic Landmark, it is one of the greatest botanical gardens in the world.
